Jansen leads heading into the penultimate event of 2026

The DOE Formula Vee partnered with CIM Lubricants competitors make their way to Red Star Raceway, just outside Delmas in Mpumalanga, for the seventh round of their 2026 championship on 9 and 10 October.

At the last outing, it was the Mangaza Racing pair of MD Bester (Mangaza Racing - First 4 Men Rhema 2) and Kyle Watt (Mangaza Racing - First 4 Men Rhema 2) who shared the wins on the day, but defending champion Lendl Jansen (Bull Security Rhema 2) still leads the championship standings. Jansen didn’t have a great outing at Zwartkops but did enough to retain his 18-point advantage over Vaughn Hills (Mangaza Racing – First 4 Men Rhema 2) at the head of the table.

Brandon Hills (Mangaza Racing – First 4 Men Rhema 2) missed the Zwartkops event, allowing both his dad, Peter (Mangaza Racing – First 4 Men Rhema 2), and Watt to leapfrog him on the championship log. Jaco Schriks (Cube Coatings Rhema 2) has been on a run of good form recently, and another good points haul at Zwartkops has moved him up to sixth place in the championship ahead of Theodore Vermaak (DOE Quality Parts & StartMyCar Forza) and Gert van den Berg (DOE Quality Parts & StartMyCar Rhema 2).

Anton van der Merwe (VDM Orthotics & Prosthetics HR1), who leads the association championship standings, and MD Bester (Mangaza Racing - First 4 Men Rhema 2) round out the top ten, with just two rounds left in the season.

Friday’s practice sessions will allow drivers to set up their cars for the 4km circuit before they tackle a 15-minute qualifying session at 8:20 on Saturday morning. The first of their two races, over 8 laps, will start at 10:15, with the second, a slightly longer affair over 10 laps, should get underway at 13:45.

Tickets will be available at the Red Star Raceway gate on Saturday morning.
